At last! Here I am, taking a break.
Early this morning I started preparing food for the 16 of us who will be together tomorrow night for Christmas Eve. OK, so I took the easy way out and did slice and bake sugar cookies. At least I made homemade icing and my youngest and I quickly iced and decorated 2 dozen cookies in a frenzy of icing and store bought sprinkles. (I never said to put a dash of
all 4 kinds of sprinkles on one cookie--Sheesh!) Oh well, most of the food items are ready, and much of it is coming from all of the relatives who are coming. Thanks be to God.
Needless to say, I should have been busy cleaning the house--the whole crew arrives tomorrow afternoon around 4:00. Instead, I headed to the nail salon. It's been 3 weeks since I last had a fill. It usually takes an hour to have my nails done and in an effort to entertain my 11 year old, I thought I'd treat her to a polish job ($5).
"Miss Cutie" begged me to treat her to a pedicure. "I've always wanted one" she pleads. I know this is true, however, I've never enlightened her to the fact that a pedicure runs about $25 bucks and I don't think an 11 year old needs one.
"I've never seen a young girl get a pedicure at one of these places" I explain. (Holy crap! Here is a mom, grandma, a 10 year old and a 7 year old, all getting a pedicure and a manicure!! My little darling points to the young thing with her toes dangling in the water--"
She's getting a pedicure!"
OK, so I'm an easy touch. I relented. The HUGE smile on Miss Cutie's face after her toes were done was enough to melt my heart. "This counts as an early Christmas gift" I say as we leave the salon. I dread what my 15 year old will say when we get home and she sees what lil' sis got done! I am
so sunk!!
Ho, ho, ho!
